Privacy policy
Universal Remote Codes has no user accounts and asks for no personal details. We set no cookies of our own. Google, as our advertising partner, may use cookies to show ads, as described below, and links to Amazon are affiliate links.
Advertising and cookies
This site works with Google AdSense, Google's advertising service, to show ads. Where ads are shown:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices, or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
Google AdSense is the only ad network on this site. Google explains how it uses data from sites that show its ads in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and lists the ad technology providers it may work with on its ad technology providers page. If we add another ad network, it will be named here, with a link to its own opt-out, before its ads appear.
In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google shows personalized ads only after you agree through a consent message from a Google-certified consent platform. Without that consent, any ads you see are non-personalized or limited ads.
If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you can turn off personalized ads in Google Ads Settings at any time. We do not sell personal information for money, and the only personal information we keep is an email you choose to send us.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless: it does not set cookies or use local storage, and does not build a profile of you across sites. It collects aggregate figures such as the page viewed, the referring site, the browser and device type, and the country.
Umami, which we run on our own server (stats.raiansar.com), is cookieless too: it keeps nothing in your browser and stores no IP addresses. It records page views, the referring site, country, browser and device type, and a few clicks: a brand suggestion, the source link, opening the code-entry steps, the next-step links shown when a brand is not listed, and Amazon affiliate links (the click only, with the page it was on). It does not record what you type.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as your IP address) to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
Amazon links
Links to Amazon carry our Amazon Associates tag and are labeled as affiliate links. We do not add anything to your browser. After you click, you are on Amazon, and its own privacy notice and cookies apply; that is how Amazon credits a purchase to us. See the affiliate disclosure.
The code finder
The finder runs in your browser. Your choices are kept only in the page address, so you can share a result. They are never sent to us on their own; your browser only downloads the code list file, as it does for any page.
Children
The site is written for adults setting up a remote. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Email and your choices
If you email hello@universalremotecodes.net, we use your message only to reply and to fix the site, and we delete it when it is no longer needed for that. To ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted, email the same address.
When this policy changes, the date below changes with it. The terms of use cover the rest of how the site may be used.
